Under the big top: UniverSoul Circus comes to Roy Wilkins Park

UniverSoul Circus comes to Roy Wilkins Park now through May 7.

This highly interactive combination of circus arts, theater, and music spans genres including pop, classic R&B, Latin, hip-hop, jazz, and gospel. It embraces and celebrates the unique and familiar aspects of pop culture globally by bringing them center stage with a cast of international performers.

Suitable for all ages.

In addition to the performance itself, all audience members attending a UniverSoul Circus performance at Roy Wilkins Park are encouraged to bring donations of some much-needed items for homeless families through various shelters in the city, such as toiletries (lotions, deodorants, toothpaste, etc.), laundry soap (individual packs), reusable water bottles, children’s sunglasses, baby wipes, diapers, and first aid kids. Drop your donation in one of the “giving bins” at the show.

Treehouse Shakers

<div>Treehouse Shakers&rsquo; Branching OUT After-School program is for ages 12-14. This awarded program is for young people who identify as LGBTQIA+, or are seeking to become better allies. Branching OUT centers on discovering and exploring one&rsquo;s story and identity through an intentionally artist-led format. During our community-based program, young people will explore and reflect on their own story to create a larger, more meaningful experience, while gaining self-empowerment and gathering with like-minded peers. Through the guidance of our awarded teaching artists, young people will create narratives that will be turned into podcasts, dances, songs or poetry.&nbsp;</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Young people have the opportunity to learn new art forms, work with professional artists, while building a meaningful community.</div>
