Symphony Space’s Thalia Book Club is opening the season with a reading of “Secret Coders” on Sept. 25, at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia theater.

Gene Luen Yang, author of the bestselling graphic novels “American Born Chinese” and “Boxers & Saints,” and now the national ambassador for Young People’s Literature, discusses the latest installment of “Secret Coders,” his entertaining series about a school whose mysteries are unraveled by a band of top-rate computer coding students. For children 8 to 12 years old. The event includes a creative writing project, a discussion with the audience, and a book-signing.

Thalia Book Club, Sept. 25 from 1 pm to 2:30 pm. Tickets $16 for non-members and $13 for members.
