Evolution Enrichment Center: Unlocking creativity

Fall is fast approaching, and it’s the time of the year to make your final decisions for your child’s after-school program. The options — from swimming to 3D-printing classes to everything in-between — can be intimidating and overwhelming. How are you to make the right choice when time is of the essence?

Evolution Enrichment Center believes that kids learn best through hands-on, sensory experiences. Our signature after-school program features cooking, visual arts, creative writing, theater, science, music, and much more. Our methodology and teaching techniques not only reinforce what students learn in a pre-K program, but also fulfill creative interests that might not be met in today’s average preschool.

Designed to amplify creativity, confidence, and curiosity, and to develop a love of lifelong learning, the classes strive to:

Encourage youngsters to express themselves in the written word: Through a safe, supportive, and fun environment, children will write short stories, poetry, haiku, and non-fiction pieces. All students will create their own “Today I Am” book. Our classes will feature a directed writing prompt, in addition to storytelling games, to provide a springboard for creativity and experimentation. Young writers are given the chance to read their work aloud — a great step toward building public speaking confidence and an opportunity to share feelings and ideas, however silly or serious, with peers.

Form a hands-on lifestyle class: Children learn how to take care of their bodies, what happens during a doctor’s check-up, how to properly brush their teeth, and how to create a “Rainbow Foods” wheel, a fun way to remind families about eating from the whole spectrum of fruits and veggies!

Children are encouraged to support each other.

Bring nature to city living: As part of our after-school program, students learn about a seed’s multifaceted life and then decorate and plant their own herb gardens — a fun way to stay green while bringing a bit of science into the kitchen.

Encourage creativity in our wardrobe: Fashion’s historical trends, from flappers to flower girls, are explored and used as artful inspiration for young designers’ own sartorial expressions in carefully crafted, teacher-led projects, showcased in our annual holiday spectacular!

Evolution’s after-school program is designed for kids to learn and play. Our goal is simple: to unlock individuality and potential through exploration, creativity, and acceptance. Based on traditional teaching philosophies, but with a modern understanding of today’s urban child, we believe in inspiring both children and families through experiential community engagement. Within every child is a light. It is our job to help them shine. The after-school program at Evolution Enrichment Center is open to enrolling children from other schools as well.
