New book helps kids care for their pets

Puppies can make great gifts for children, exposing them to unconditional love, wet kisses, and someone who’s always up for a catch. A new book written and illustrated by Ray Nelson, “My Very, Very Busy Day!” helps ease kids into their new, joyful job of keeping their pet healthy and happy. Nelson’s picture book depicts a day in the life of a dog, Captain Noodles, from his point of view, with easy-to-read text and lively illustrations. The book also includes a foreword by Oscar-winning “Annie” star, Quvenzhane Wallis, who shares her love for her dogs and her aspiration to be a vet.

The book about Captain Noodles and his furry friend, Kitty, closes with a pledge for kids to read and sign, acknowledging their responsibilities to their four-legged family member. With proceeds from the sales of this book going to the Banfield Charitable Trust, which provides preventive care for pets in need, “My Very, Very Busy Day!” is truly a gift that keeps on giving.
