“Groove” to this funky new children’s CD.

“Groove Kid Nation: The Wheels on the Bus” features classic children’s songs redone as soul foot-stompers. There’s “Itsy Bitsy Spider,” “The Alphabet Song,” and, of course, “The Wheels on the Bus,” as well as original material.

The CD is the brainchild of musician Rodney Lee, who wanted to create what he could not find for his son: music reminiscent of growing up in the funk-filled, soul-infused 1960s and ’70s.

Each tune features a whimsical animal character performing a solo on its instrument, and an enclosed 10-page booklet features illustrations of these new animal friends.

“Groove Kid Nation: The Wheels on the Bus,” $15.98. For info, visit www.groovekidnation.com.
